A good friend of mine was the opening speaker at a rally for thousands of people in Ft Worth, Texas. About halfway through his presentation he collapsed on stage and was rushed to the hospital.

When the rally ended, we all hurried to check on him. He was hooked up to an IV and lots of machines. We asked him what happened, and he said, “I have pumped it out for so long without putting anything back in I just ran out of me.”

How does this relate to you?

Clients and prospects have: Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt in this environment.

While you are likely skilled at helping them make sense of it all and what they need to do to deal with their stress and cope – What are you doing to recharge?

You might say, “Oh I am fine, I deal with their stress like this all the time.”

So, while “you are fine,” here are a couple of tips I have learned to be sure I don’t run out of me.

  1. Read books by and for successful people. A chapter a day keep the cobwebs away.
  2. Surround yourself with positive people. Your ability to recharge is greatly influenced if you do or if you don’t.
  3. Be grateful for all you have and do not worry about the “Jones” in your profession.
  4. Spend time every day listening to or reading some type of inspirational message. Not motivational – motivational is a push message – you are already pushing. Inspirational on the other hand connects you with your feelings and values and helps you keep your balance.

In the end, as my good friend said from his hospital bed in Ft. Worth, “I need to take some time to recharge me.” Yup we all do!
