Having worked with hundreds of professionals in many different industries, I have observed that those who succeed at a high level share the following three traits. I encourage you to reflect on these traits, ask yourself if they apply to you, and be honest in your answers.
- I am always looking to improve and eagerly seek new ideas and approaches.
- I am willing and able to make the changes needed, despite my current approaches or situation.
- I want advice and an honest critique of how I can do things better.
Success does not come naturally; it requires hard work and being a lifelong student of the ways in which you can improve.
Or, as my good friend and fellow Hall of Fame speaker Bill Bachrach says, “If comfort is your goal, success is not in your future.”
If you answered “yes” to all three of the traits above, then you are ready to move on to the exciting next step: implementation. As you begin to reflect and build your 2026 plan, consider each of these traits and create a plan to bring them to life.
It is not just how much you make—it is how much more of a difference you can make by improving.
