Being a leader, whether in business, at home or in recreation, means motivating others to strive toward excellence in their work and life. The best motivator is to appeal to their sense of pride in what they do and who they are.

When your staff is motivated to give their best and they take pride in what they do, they will give more in order to accomplish tasks that otherwise are thought impossible. They are then willing to “go the extra mile.”

By creating a culture that strives for excellence, you will attract and retain the people you are specifically seeking – those who will be loyal, take pride in their work, and give more than 100%. When you establish this type of culture it creates an atmosphere that will define your business. For instance, when someone is considered for hiring, when decisions are made, when promotions are discussed, etc. the culture is what drives the outcome. This results in a business filled with people who are proud of the work they do.

When you help people stretch beyond their current abilities, knowledge, and level of self-confidence, and offer opportunities for them to achieve things they didn’t think possible, you help them become more valuable to your business. By your belief and trust in them, you cause them to be more loyal, responsible, and willing to accept additional challenges. The end result is a business that leads the industry in excellence!
